Laclede County R-1 Marching Band wins 1st Place in Lebanon MO holiday parade

Lebanon Missouri played host today to their Annual Christmas Parade. The Saturday before Thanksgiving traditionally kicks off the holiday season in Lebanon and Laclede County. The theme for the 2008 parade: Believe in the Spirit of Christmas.

The Laclede Country R-1 Marching Band (Conway Missouri) was one of over one hundred entries in the parade and one of five school bands. This was the Conway's first appearance in almost five years in this particular parade. They did not disappoint.

Director of Bands, David Taylor and his students took home 1st place for the "Best Drum Major" and 1st place for "Best Color Guard." Additionally, KJEL Radio broadcast the parade live on 103.7 FM - calling the Conway group "a very fine looking band."

Congratulations to Mr. Taylor and the Conway Marching Band!

Debbie, That is really cool! This would make a great Localism post. You have to be proud of your local band...

Debbie,

Congrats to the school marching band and thank you for such a good localism post.

Debbie, What nice photos you got.  And what a wonderful honor for the team; it must have been really nice to hear them.

Michael and Don- Thank you! My daughter is in the 6th grade band and on the left holding the banner. The band really has come a long way in the last few years. Mr. Taylor has done a wonderful job with the kids. He's created his own Triiibe!

Carole - That was the best part - not only did they LOOK good they SOUNDED great! It was fun - and you know I'm not much of a parade person! :)

That is way cool!  There is nothing I like more than High School bands.  My sons were both in them!  Thanks for sharing.

Jim - I was never in the band and really never paid attention, until now! I have to say, like you, I find that I am really enjoying their sound. My daughter plays the clarinet; son is too young yet, but wants to play percussion.

Debbie - Great post for localism like Michael mentioned and I can see you did this already. Great photos too.

Thanks Robert for stopping by. I love to take photos of school events.

Hi all. Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
I am from Botswana and now study English, give please true I wrote the following sentence: "Hours and minutes on separate rulers, meet at a central slider with retrograde motion for each."

:-D Thanks in advance. Max.
