Well, it's here! I know fall officially started awhile back, but it has just been the past few days that it has really "felt" like Autumn. Cooler mornings, just enough to make me kick on the furnace to cut the chill, and a little frost on the windshields so I have to start the car a few minutes before leaving to let the windows defrost. But by noon, it is a glorius 60-65 degrees with just enough breeze to send the falling leaves chasing each other in a game of tag... Colors are changing so every hill you top opens up a panoramic view of gold, orange, scarlet, and plenty of pine green.
When I am out of town, all I have to do is roll down my window to hear the distant drone of chainsaws cutting firewood for the colder days ahead, and to smell the wood smoke from a chimney that tells me someone has already had enough of the cold! The air is crisp, the leaves crunch underfoot, the deer and squirrels, foxes and bobcats are getting more active. Believe me, the deer know EXACTLY when firearms season starts, and they all move off my property to the neighbor's vacant land, because they know he's never there to hunt!
I love this time of year! Except for the nagging certainty that winter is chasing close behind, there is always a sense of expectation, of hope, as this year is winding down and I look towards the next. Of course, the holidays are coming up real soon, too, like it or not....

Amber, good post. I love fall in the Ozarks, as I went to school in Missouri. Of course I love all seasons in the Ozarks. Beautiful country!
Hi Christopher. Where did you go to school? yeah, I love it here, too. I grew up in Illinois, moved here as a teenager, moved around with a military husband a bit, then always came "home." of all the places I ever went, this area talks to my soul, and I cannot imagine living elsewhere...

Hi Judith! I am in West Plains, but cover about 9 counties. Do you handle REO properties or do BPOs by any chance?
No, I'm not experienced in that area. I've only done one short sale, never did a BPO for a lender and my largest experience with REOs is in purchasing our current home (got a great deal, woo hoo!).
My office is in Carthage but I actually live in northern Lawrence county. Our company niche is in rural and historic properties (United Country). I've been in the business about three years but have been working in MO less than 6 months.
I grew up in Missouri and went to college in Springfield... spent most teenage weekends at the Lake in Six Mile Cove (I assume that's no longer the hot spot). I know what you mean about that nagging feeling of impending winter - but the fall is indeed glorious.
My husband and I went camping at Table Rock the first weekend in October hoping to catch some of the fall color. We spent too much time in our camper with the ac on trying to pretend it was fall. What a strange summer we had! Hopefully, it will be a mild winter! I'm in Columbia, glad to hear from other MO folks! The leaves are changing here too, but I don't think it will be a brillant display!
