Go Fly a Kite...at Lakeshore Park, Brandon

The onset of Daylight Savings Time gave our family an extra hour to spend outdoors Sunday, and we spent the time at Lakeshore Park in Brandon, off Spillway Road.

It was a great March afternoon, perfect for flying a kite, grilling burgers and hot dogs, playing on the swings, or tossing a frisbee.

It wasn't crowded, but over 300 people enjoyed the spring-like weather at the park Sunday afternoon.

Besides Lakeshore Park, there are several parks and trails located along the Ross Barnett Reservoir for hiking, boating, tennis, and soccer. Throughout Ridgeland, Madison, Flowood and Brandon, there are over 20 parks for fun family activities, like Old Trace Park, Freedom Ridge, and Wolcott Park in Ridgeland.

Hey, great information. Thanks for the post about your area.

Nice localism post - great weather - but we had a surge in traffic so no rest for the wicked today.

I'm quite jealous.  We are experiencing more snow today.  But your post is a reminder of Spring for me, so thanks!

Laekshore Park look nice Pat. I am so glad we are getting closer to Spring!

Lakeshore Park is within walking distance of my home, and I taught my oldest grand-daughter to fly a kite there two years ago. She worked herself like crazy, running all over the soccer field. Yesterday the wind was more co-operative!

Pat - Now that is what it is all about, nice weather and family at the park.  We have Spring fever this past weekend as well !   ~ Chris
