That's Italian Lake Norman!

Ferrucii's Lake Norman Market

Life would not seem complete without great Italian markets and bakeries so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered Ferrucci's Old Tyme Italian Market right here in Lake Norman! (Yes, I know this isnt about real estate but once in a while I need to have some fun! Besides, I want to reassure anyone considering relocating here, especially from New York, that you will be able to get all of your favorite foods right here in Lake Norman).

Ferrucci's in Lake Norman

A true test of whether an Italian market is good is how long you have to wait. As you can see, Ferruccis passed this test with flying colors. However, the service is great so truly the wait is well worth it.

It is amazing how much is packed into this relatively tiny store. They have a complete deli with wonderful ‘Italian inspired sandwich creations', delicious salads like fresh mozerella and tomato with basil, olives, and an excellent selection of deli meats and cheeses.

Their fresh meat section "Tonys Butcher Shop" offers USDA Choice beef, homemade Italian sausages, pork, veal, lamb and poultry many of which are ready to cook. Their boneless leg of lamb with garlic cloves can be popped right in the oven. Or, for summer, they now offer ready-to-grill kabobs, marinated steaks and more.

Wines and canned goods at Ferrucci's in Lake Norman

Ferrucci's truly offers everything for a complete Italian meal, and what Italian meal would be complete without wine? They carry a nice selection of Italian wines and even have a wine of the month.

They also sell bottled and canned goods, olive oils and vinegars.

Ferrucci's Easter Menu Board

Holidays are always special at Ferrucci's.

For Valentine's Day they offered a 3-course meal: Maine Lobster Bisque, Beef Wellingtons and Chocolate Raspberry Cheese Cake.

For Easter they offered Leg of Lamb, Kurobuta Spiral Ham, an authentic meat pies, colomba pasquale Easter dove bread, Pignoli Cookies, and for April whole dressed rabbits and Ashley Farms chickens.

Ferrucci's Old Italian Market in Cornelius

With so many ready-to-cook meals and all of the extras there is little excuse for not cooking a great meal. But, they also have an extensive Catering Menu for those who truly want to be spoiled. From buffet trays to cold party platters to salads, there are plenty of options for entertaining as well.

Ferrucci's does not bake their own breads so here are a few highly recommended Italian Bakeries: Nonas Sweets In University City, Jimmies Sweets in Matthews (more than 60 flavors of pound cakes!), and Down Home Baking Company whose baked goods are available at area farmers markets .

Ferruccis Old Tyme Italian Market is located at:

Diane.  Fabulous, fabulous local article.  Makes your mouth water.  I love these local posts.

Diane, I believe you have the best Localism posts I read.  You bring out the tangible in your communities.  If you have time, ask the owner of "Old Tyme" if they would open a 2nd store in my neighborhood.  AJ

Hi Diane,
What a wonderful market, everything sounds yummy.  You are providing great information for your locals.

Diane, You are making me hungry! What a charming place. What an incredible post! You did a beautiful job writing that! Do they deliver to Huntsville, lol.

Diane, I love these places....we used to have many but there are very few left.  They have such an assortment of wonderful food I wait on line too!   Glad you found one in Lake Norman.

Oooh, I love this place, Diane. What a great article. This was excellent. Hope they give you some goodies as a thank you...and perhaps they will get some business from it (and you, too).

Jeff

Lenn: This is high praise indeed.  Thank you so much.

Alan: What kind words. Wow!  Everyone needs a good Italian market; perhaps one exists nearer to SF or Berkeley?

Cynthia: Thanks for stopping by.

Elizabeth:  I know, I wrote this before lunch and was starving by the time I finished it!

Carole: We are lucky so many have moved here from places like NY and bring their businesses with them?

Andrew: Had I known, I certainly would have written more sooner.  They are starting an Italian club here as so many have moved from NY especially.  We have great Italian ice and Gelato places as well.  Ever since I read Under The Tuscan Sun I have been adopting everything Italian for my home and garden!

Jeff: I guess I should let them know, huh?  Thanks!

Jeff:

You've convinced me.   Lake Norman is going to be put on my "Bucket List" of places to visit.

Can't wait to step into the older markets!

Kris:  I hope you will come someday!  Be sure to let me know and we'll take you out on the lake boating.

Diane - I am going to have to check this out the next I come down to visit the folks.  There is also a place in Raleigh I'm sure you would love:-)  Have a great week!
