Whalehead Club Wednesday Wine Festival.

September 7, 2011. 3:00 - 7:00 pm.

Come, Celebrate and Learn about the interesting world of wines! Enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting, as a connoisseur or a novice, on the north lawn of the Whalehead Club at Currituck Heritage Park, located just past milepost 11 on Route 12 North in Corolla.  With your $20 admission you can sample a variety of wines from North Carolina and around the world, keep your souvenir glass, and receive a discounted audio interpretation tour of the Whalehead Club (daily 9am - 4:30pm).  Bring the whole family to enjoy musical entertainment by local artist Kim Kalman; try your hand at kite flying; or buy some tasty treats served by Northern Lights Bakery.  Pets on leash are welcome.  Parking is free. For more information visit www.whaleheadclub.org or call 252-453-9040  

NC Marionette Theatre presents  

"Tom Benn and Blackbeard the Pirate"!  

Thursday September 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm.

Join the Adventure of Tom Benn who is tricked onto Blackbeard's ship, becomes the cabin boy and finds out that being a pirate isn't quite what he expected.  When Blackbeard plans to rob his family's farm on Ocracoke Island, Tom does some quick thinking to protect them.  Performance by the North Carolina Marionette Theatre on the North Lawn of the Whalehead Club every Thursday at 2:00 pm.  Sponsored by Currituck County Tourism. Admission and Parking are free.

 

After each performance, a scarf marionette workshop is offered where you can make your own marionette and learn to manipulate it with puppeteers from the show.  Maybe you could create your very own show!  Ages are 3-12 year olds.  Although teenagers think this is pretty cool too! For more information visit www.NorthCarolinaMarionettes.com or call 252-256-1806.

Moonlight Legend, Lore and Ghost Tour

Thursday September 8, 2011 - Beginning at Dusk

For those who dare, come and take the Moonlight Legends, Lore and Ghost Tour of the Whalehead Club by lantern light!  Walk the steps of pirates, shipwreck victims, and ghosts of Corolla Island! Tickets are $20 per adult and are available by advance purchase only. Call 252-453-9040 ext 2 early because this tour sells out quickly.
