Greensboro's Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway

Greensboro's Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway

Greensboro, North Carolina has one of the largest collections of greenways, hiking paths, and bike lanes in the southeast. We are still adding even more all the time with plans for so much more.

The Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway is a asphalt paved greenway that follows the old railway of the old Atlantic & Yadkin Railroad. The original path ran from Mt Airy, NC (the home of Andy Griffith) to Sanford, NC. I went on a ride today and went from the present end near downtown Greensboro all the way to Summerfield. It was a beautiful ride on tree lined paved trails. I rode for a full hour in basically a straight line. There are of course intersecting trails hiking and biking all down the greenway. As you can see by the map the greenway joins together several park systems and make for an excellent bike ride for those that do not like to ride on the bike lanes on the roadways.
