The 13th annual Western North Carolina Orchid Society Show is this Saturday and Sunday at the North Carolina Arboretum. This show has become recognized as the premier orchid show in the region and draws thousands of visitors each year. Last year's show drew nearly 4,000 attendees.
See spectacular displays of these exotic flowers grown by various orchid societies and greenhouses across the region and listen to presentations by WNC Orchid Society members.
The theme for this year's popular show and sale is "Swamped with Orchids." It runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at the Arboretum's Education Center.
Those attending the event also will have the opportunity to try their luck at winning one of the many raffle prizes, ranging from exceptional orchid specimens to a stay at the historic 1889 White Gate Inn & Cottage Bed & Breakfast in Asheville.
The Western North Carolina Orchid Society is a non-profit organization comprised of people who share the excitement and joy of growing orchids.
