Charlotte's North Meck-Huntersville, Davidson and Cornelius

Huntersville schoolsThere's a section in Charlotte, often referenced as North Meck. (Mecklenburg is the county that Charlotte resides in.) "North Meck" is simply an area which consists of three towns; Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson...they are roughly 20-30 minutes from center city Charlotte.

Huntersville:

Huntersville, is the largest and best known of the three, also the closest one to Charlotte. Cornelius and Davidson are both within about three miles of Huntersville.

Combined these three towns offer an ample supply of fun things to do; concerts, festivals, dining and shopping, to include restaurants like Midtown Sundries and the Rusty Rudder that give you access to food and entertainment via boat or car.

Parks in the area include Blythe's Landing, Jetton Park and Ramsey Creek Park. Huntersville also has a new family fitness center with a masterfully planned outdoor water fun park.

All three towns are served by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. The school selection in North Meck tend to be some of the systems top scorers! Schools include North Mecklenburg High School and Hopewell High School. and for North Meck's Middle Schools; Alexander Middle ; Bradley Middle ; Bailey Middle School .

Cornelius:

Cornelius is located at the southernmost tip of Lake Norman. It used to be the peninsula lake normanCharlotteans weekend retreat; its shores dotted with tin-roofed boathouses, mobile homes and fishing cabins.

In days gone by, this was one of the most popular weekend destinations, and was no more than a bunch of small trailers located on the southern tip of Lake Norman...the local folks summer fish camps... a short weekend get away.

That old fishing camp is now home to the Peninsula Yacht Club. Times have changed!

Cornelius offers a tremendous amount of little shops and great eateries. It's a more pricey than Huntersville, as is dictated by most water communities, and it is also further north from Charlotte, than Huntersville is.

Davidson city fathers have offered resistance to the many developers out there. Hence, you will find a little less to choose from in the way of housing. Home to Davidson Business College, this quaint little town is also home to some beautiful horse farms, and some gorgeous golf courses, like the River Run Country Club.

Davidson is a little more pricey than Huntersville, as it has strict zoning, making it less developed than Cornelius and Huntersville. It's excellent schools include Davidson Elementary and Davidson Middle School.
