About every other week, I collect my three grandsons for a sleep-over. They love adventures, so I'm always looking for new places to visit that will be fun for them.
This week-end we visited the Outer Banks Wildlife Shelter (OWLS) in Newport, North Carolina. The facility has been around for almost twenty years and serves as a "hospital" for injured or orphaned wild animals in our area. The program is run by volunteers and is an amazing place for little boys to discover.
The boys were very excited to see so many "gooses". Quite tame.
OWLS is located at 100 Wildlife Way in Newport, just a short drive from Morehead City on Highway 24. Check it out. You can call to arrange a tour at (252) 240-1200.
The nature trail took us about 15 minutes to explore.
The boys enjoyed watching the ducks from the bridge.
Oh, and the next time you're feeling generous, they happily receive donations.
