The White House reported that 600,000 jobs have been the recipients of money from the stimulus bill, something that it is touting as good for our economy. First, let's break down the jobs. The money has gone to keeping people employed, not new jobs and if you weren't one of the people whose salaries are being paid by the stimulus, you lose. The accounting does not count jobs created nor jobs "saved" It only counts jobs whose salaries were paid by the stimulus. Maybe just me, but I am having a hard time following how this is good, it is ultimately an accounting gimmick.
This information comes from the White House via it's Economic Advisory Council. This is the gurus that the Obama administration listens to concerning economic policy. There are three members, all of which have illustrious educational backgrounds, but not one has ever held a job outside academia. The chairman is the co-author of the Obama administration's recovery plan and the other member is not even an economist.
Masters and PhD's are all over the place here, with the single thread being that government can solve the problem, totally discounting that it is the problem
