Stubbs Club, Laurinburg, NC - His spirit lives on...

Ellsworth Stubbs left farming in 1935 to open a radio repair shop called E. M. Stubbs on Fairly Street in Laurinburg, NC which also became a great hangout for businessmen and retirees over the years. In its heyday, as many as 15-20 people would come by the store to sit and get caught up on the local gossip and enjoy each others company.

This tradition continues on in 2010 long after Ellsworth's passing in 2004 with a good core group of the "Stubbs Club" that meet Monday - Friday from 4PM to 5PM in the repair shop that remains virtually unchanged since Mr. Stubbs' death. His spirit lives on with this tradition with old friends and if you ever happen to be in Laurinburg, NC during their meeting time, the door will be open so stop in and sit a spell.

The "Stubbs Club" is just one reason why Laurinburg, NC is such a neat town and great place to raise a family or to retire.

Beyond having a charming downtown area, Laurinburg, NC has many things that attract visitors and retirees to town. Thanks to the strong equestrian program at St. Andrews Presbyterian College with over 100 horses and 200 students majoring in equestrian programs, Laurinburg, NC is becoming an equestrian community.
