Topsail Island Missile Museum

Yes we have a Museum! Even some the towers are still standing and you can get all the history within this building.

The missiles and more Museum is open for the season!! Features are history and artifacts of the island from prehistoric to present.

Exhibits:

Operation Bumblebee: Missile project that operated on TI shortly after WWII, including a video of assembly and actual firings of the missiles. On site is a booster rocket that washed ashore in 1994.

Camp Davis: The anti-aircraft army base was located in Holly Ridge during WWII

WASPs: (Women Air Force Service Pilots) Honoring these brave women who flew the towing targets for anti aircraft gunnery practice.

Pirates of the Carolinas: Depicting the history and colorful stories of ten pirates in the Carolinas, including the famous Blackbeard and TI own pirate history.

Barrier Island: This exhibit addresses the physiology, fragility, manageability and the magic/privilege of living on TI.

Natural History: Indian artifacts and dugout canoe discovered on the island.

NC Shell exhibit: the museum is children friendly with exhibits on the Sea Turtles, NC birds, and touch and feel shell/sand box, educational and fun books to read and a game table. Outside there is a fossil dig especially for children.
