Lot's of fun in the sun this weekend at Wrightsville Beach! Surfs Up, Clean Up and Concerts on! Wrightsville Beach plays host once again to the 11th annual East Coast Wahine Championship, the East Coast's largest women's surfing competition.
The action this year takes place on Saturday and Sunday August 18thand 19th at south end of Wrightsville Beach, just south of the Oceanic Pier and the Surf Suites Motel (between Beach Access 37-39) The locale for the Wahine Surfing Championships was dictated by New surfing laws in effect on WB. So there will be a little longer walk from the public parking lot and restrooms. The competition begins at 8:00 AM and lasts until 5:00 PM on Saturday (followed by the Barefoot beach cleanup) and from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Sunday

After the compettiton on Saturday afternoon, the public will have the chance to keep the beach clean and barefootfriendly at the Beach Rescue Clean-up gathering sponsored by Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider. Just Look for the Surfrider/BarefootWine tent on the beach, clean-up starts there around 4pm Please pitch in and volunteer a little of your time!
The fabulous Jill Cunniff will give a celebration concert at Tower 7 Baja Mexican Grill from 8-10pm. Must be 21 and registered in advance on line at www.barefootwine.com/beachrescue
On Sunday about 1:45pm Some awesome trophies made by local artist Abby Perry, and terrific prizes from the wonderful sponsors, will be raffled off. Some items in the drawing are an Outer Banks hammock, a beach cruiser, a two wheeler dealer beach cruiser, or one sweet Uhuru Surfcraft surfboard!
Come on to beautiful Wrightsville Beach and enjoy the fun!
