Robinson alumni to meet

The W. H. Robinson Alumni Association will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Winterville Library. The school reunion will be held Labor Day weekend with a meet and greet at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 and breakfast at 9 a.m. Sept. 2, both at the Community Building in Winterville. Republican club to meet

The Down East Republican Club will meet Thursday at Frank's Pizza, U.S. 264, Washington, N.C. Dinner is at 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6:45 p.m.

Bob Crumley, a candidate for North Carolina Attorney General, and William "Buzz" Cayton, president of Eagle Publishing Company Inc., publisher of the Beaufort County Observer, will speak.

Center to present short films

The Magnolia Arts Center will present "Summer Shorts" at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Rotary Building, corner of Johnston and Nash streets. The short films vary in length and in country of origin, are unrated and may not be suitable for children.

Program on autism planned

The Autism Society of North Carolina and Family Support Network will offer a workshop in Spanish on "What is Autism?" from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith & Victory Church, 3950 Victory Lane, Winterville.

Women's fund offers grants

The Women for Women Fund of the Greater Greenville Community Foundation is accepting grant applications for funding.

Applicants must be nonprofit organizations that provide services to Pitt County citizens as it relates to one or more of the following: enabling economic self-sufficiency for women; preventing violence against women and girls; addressing health issues for women and girls; overall empowering of women and girls to reach their full potential.

Funding amounts range from $500 to $5,000.
