Big Weekend for Festivals in Western North Carolina

Big Weekend for Festivals in Western North Carolina

Fall In NC

This weekend is the big one for fall festivals. You'll find a rainbow of color splashed everywhere, and clean crisp air, perfect for walking through the festivities of fall in the mountains.

For those of you who love big events, the 31st Leaf Festival is happening in Black Mountain. This is a huge four day event with Music, Art and Great Food. October 14 through 17, 2010 along Lake Eden in Black Mountain. Big time names will be performing this year, like Leon Redbone and The Indigo Girls. There will be a lot of local talent as well.

For those looking for a smaller event that is just as fantastic, there is the 3rd Annual Tryon Arts and Crafts Fall Festival. Tryon, NC is a small town full of great little shops, and is a joy to walk through. It will take you back in time.

In Town on Vacation? If you are looking for a day of beauty and adventure, you can start at the Tryon Arts and Crafts Fall Festival, then take Highway 176 east to Saluda for another town that will take you back in time. Both towns are known for good food and art, and the drive is spectacular this time of year.

End your trip in Downtown Historic Hendersonville, and walk the revitalized streets for a great time in eclectic shops, unique boutiques and a wide array of restaurants. And stay the night at one of our great Historic Bed and Breakfasts.

If you have day two available, I would suggest you then follow Highway 64 eastbound. Along this route you will find many vegetable markets and apple stands, and you can load your car with fresh produce. Continue on to Bat Cave (for real!). Then make a turn onto 74A (right) and head to Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure.

If you are cruising for a new home, there will be 48 Open Houses this weekend.

Whatever you do, get out and enjoy this gorgeous weather!
