As a Chatham County Real Estate Expert - clients are always asking me about what's in the commercial pipeline. Working on-site in Chapel Ridge selling homes and land in Chapel Ridge and surrounding communities means that I am always on the lookout for news about commercial development that effects the area.
Pittsboro Place is one such recent proposal. According to The News & Observer, "Pittsboro Place, would have 416,820 to 776,020 square feet of shops". The project, funded by Triangle investors, will rival the size of SouthPoint mall in Durham and be accessible from Bus. 64 in Pittsboro.
Recently a scaled-back version of the Pittsboro Place development was approved by town officials. The Pittsboro officials also indicated that they would consider a rezoning of the second half of the land involved in six months time.
Chatham County, in particular the Pittsboro area, has several pending commercial developments including Powell Place (residential development with shopping district), Pittsboro Commons (425,000 square foot shopping center), Bellemont Station & Bellmont Point (100,000 square feet of office space). There are also several others at various stages of zoning application or construction but one thing is sure, Chatham County is growing.
Residents at Chapel Ridge, a custom home golf course community, are looking forward to the growth as are many other neighboring communities. The proposed developments are met with mixed reviews from the residents of Pittsboro, North Carolina, many of whom are worried that the beautiful historical downtown area will suffer.
