A family I sold a home to has an Autistic child. She is a darling little girl, but has no internal clock due to Autism, and she is up various times throughout the day and night. I thought how hard that must be for the parents, both trying to work days after being up half the night - night after night.
They sent me an email today displaying an ad that all Harris Teeters in North Carolina are teaming up with the Autism Society of North Carolina. Between April 23 and May 6th Harris Teeter will have $1 and $5 donation tickets available for purchase at the checkout counter. Through this promotion period, 100% of the donations will go to the Society.
They also quote on it that: "'Each day in North Carolina two more families find out that their child is on the autism spectrum,' said Tracey Sheriff, Chief Operating Officer for the Autism Society of North Carolina."
I hope anyone that drives by a Harris Teeter had the time to stop in and buy a ticket! It seems like I hear more and more about Autistic children these days. They are very special children and really need our help.

Aloha Colleen,
I am currently reading a book entitled A NEW EARTHBy Ekart Tolle featured for a study discussion group through Oprah Winfrey. Mr. Tolle says that TV has a lot to do with the explosion of autism in children today. So many parents use TV as a babysitter for their children and infants.
Just thought this may be helpful to others
I have a good friend with an Autistic son. They really love him, but have a hard time caring for him. This is especially true as he gets older. This is a great cause, I hope they are able to raise a lot of money!
Hi Colleen - Welcome to Active Rain. I have a friend with a child who has autism. She is simply delightful. But the 24 hour demands are hard on them. Consider, too, that these kids don't grow up, go to college, move out, etc. I am glad to see this support in this area.
Your blog topics are so good. You should join the newbie group and read all of the tutorials there and post yours in that group and more. Always post to 5 groups for maximum exposure.
Good luck to you! If you need any help, send me an email. Active Rain is a wonderful network!
