How Does Your Copy Write?

There are 7 good steps when writing sales copy.

Step 1. I only have eyes for you!

Make it personal. Make it feel like it's only written for you audience of one. Your mailing list or e-list may have hundreds or thousands of contacts, but everyone should feel like you wrote the copy for them. Write you copy in a very personal way. Be transparent. Be yourself. People like you. Why I like you! Now write to me and make me cry.

Set 2. Make your copy "roll with it baby"

Most people write submissively, like the IRS or a doctor's journal. It is writing with no identity. Example: "The front gate of the house was opened", well who opened the door and what happened? "Billy Bob opened the front gate in a fit of rage when Gator his pet python was found loose in the neighbors 1968 Corvette". Well that is pretty vivid. That is not passive. Kick it up!

Step 3. Make him beg!

You copy should weave right into their emotions. This is powerful, very powerful as people are moved and motivated by their feelings. Love, Anger, Greed motivate people to do strange things. Make your target feel something. If they can feel it, they will take action. Why not your action! Why not make them beg!

Step 4. Sizzling Bacon in the Morning!

Your writing should activate the senses in your target. Not just the senses of hearing or seeing, but use touch and smell. Make people come alive, come alive in their mind. Make it human! Unless you target is not human. Bring them to the table and let them see the spread! Wow, I'm getting hungry.
