The Raleigh North Carolina Future Growth Plan

The planners for the city of Raleigh have just made public their ideas about how to handle our city's projected growth for the next 20 years. The plans are the first major proposals since the last comprehensive city plan took place in 1989 when the population was 207,000.

Today Raleigh has roughly 380,000 people who call the city home making it one of the top 50 most populated cities in America. Projections for Raleigh's population come in at 600,000 by the year 2030. With that expected rise in numbers, the city planners have been hard at work to insure that the quality of life here in the Oak City remains high.

Based on the projected numbers, the city planners estimate that 60% of the city's future growth (about 72,000 homes) will be broken down into eight "growth centers" throughout the city. With that kind of growth considerations for inproving mass transportation, roads and infrastructure were high on the agenda.

The quality of life in Raleigh and its surrounding areas (Cary and Apex in particular) is very high as we've won numerous awards over the years for "Best Small Town In North Carolina",  "Best Small Cities in America" and the #1 ranking for "Best Cities for Jobs"

With numerous parks, museums, cultural events, sports, biking trails, and activities of all kinds for all ages, it's no wonder so many people are relocating to this region. And it's no wonder that I've been proud to call the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex area my home.
