The 82nd Airborne Division is a very important part of Fort Bragg. 82nd Airborne has been an active division since 1917, and was named the "All-American" Division after it was discovered that the original unit had soldiers from all 50 states.
The 82nd Airborne has been assigned to Fort Bragg since the 1960s, and has been active throughout the world in all major American operations, including Grenada in 1983, Panama in 1989, and the Gulf War in the early 90s. Thank you very much for the history, links, and information you posted on the 82nd, and Fort Bragg. I'm embarrassed to say that having lived in NC now for over 20 years, I just learned a lot about what I should have already known.
Wow, my husband was at the Air Force Base in Goldsboro, Seymour Johnson. We watch for news on the fighter jets. We use to work on them.
Penny thanks for this post as a tribute to our fighting forces. We need to support them anyway we can.
Penny, I love going to military museums. I have never been to Ft Bragg but if I ever get out that way again I would sure visit here! Great info for those moving to the Ft Bragg area.
