The 82nd Airborne Division is a very important part of Fort Bragg. 82nd Airborne has been an active division since 1917, and was named the "All-American" Division after it was discovered that the original unit had soldiers from all 50 states.
The 82nd Airborne has been assigned to Fort Bragg since the 1960s, and has been active throughout the world in all major American operations, including Grenada in 1983, Panama in 1989, and the Gulf War in the early 90s.
