Those are some great programs.  I used to love the summer reading club when I was a kid.

One of my favorite volunteer jobs was reading to the kids at my library during afterschool story hour. They are so precious!

Hi Cynthia, A great Localism post and one that should resonate well within your community. I think Libraries are not nearly covered enough here in the Rain for all the wonderful services that they provide in their their respective communities. Maybe we will see more here on community libraries.

William is right... great localism post. I saw something in our newspaper, which has dwindled down to very few pages, that our library is being utilized much more these days with the economy the way it is.

Cynthia, Great localism post. More libraries should have such programs.

Hi Cynthia,  When my kids were younger, I really took advantage of the programs at the Library.  They were excellent!

Hi Cynthia, sounds like you have a great library system there. Even tax help!!

I often go into the library and think I need to bring my kids here for story time.  This is a great reminder of the opportunities.

Cynthia, Our libraries are busier than ever during these challenging economic times.  This is a great list of fun and free activities for children in your area and help for taxes too!

Sheldon,
Thanks--libraries have so much to offer, do they not?

Hi Tammy,
There is nothing better than a good book to help relieve stress and "take you away".

Jennifer,
That would be an awesome job to have--children are my favorite people!

Hello William,
I do agree and in times like now, they are a wonderful place to take kids for some free entertainment.

Cynthia, we are such huge fans ofour locallibrary. They have a fun thing they do whenever you check books out. The receipt posts the price you would pay at the bookstore and with each book checked out it continues to add up. Last year the Lewis Family save right at $4,800 checking books out all year long!

Cynthia,

I remember spending many hours in the library when the kids were little.......we did have good times there.

Susie,
I have read that local libraries have seen a large increase in usage--guess some good comes out of every situation.

Gita,
Thanks, I'm trying to focus on Localism.

Hello Judy,
Most libraries and the programs offered are very underutilized--but from what I hear and read, more people are taking advantage now that the economy is down.

Keith,
Tax!  April 15th is approaching much too quickly.

Hi Christine,
My little loves story time at the library---we just don't get there often enough.  :-(

Diane,
That is what I hear is happening all over the country.  That's a good thing.

Russell,
I love that idea and I plan to tell our local librarian about it.   I almost never buy books anymore.

Dan,
Not only do the kids have fun, they are learning about a valuable community service.  Thank you.
