Way back in March I posted Wake Forest Library! A Little Something For Everyone! - it was a great post highlighting our library here in Wake Forest and all of the wonderful programs that it offers.
I usually go up every Mon - Thur with my son for homework time and LOVE their programs geared for school-age kids. They do a really good job with the arts and crafts and the educational programs. Well, the library is a little cramped! While Wake Forest continues to grow the Library didn't. Not until NOW...
There is a $45 million bond that has been approved by Wake County voters for library projects. The Wake Forest Branch library made the list!!! The current 5,000 sq ft building does an astonishing amount of circulaton in just one month - 40,000 - 45,000 items per month to be exact.
On schedule is a 3,000 sq ft expansion that will provide the much needed space to grow their Story-time programs, homework/research space and space to sit and read. While they will increase their collection of materials the main focus is on general "space".
Fortunately for my family we currently can walk to the library! However, in November, and ONLY TEMPORARILY, they will move to a 3,000 sq ft space off of Capital Boulevard (Wake Point Plaza Shopping Center) until they can complete the renovations.
Here's to a much anticipated expansion in My Back Yard....
