Good news for Wilmington North Carolina as it hits # 2 in the NATION in a national study for 2007 projected job growth! The list of 25 top cities, compiled by the Miliken Institute, an economic "think tank" based in California, also includes the NC cities of Charlotte and Raleigh.

In related news, the recent announcement that 950 jobs are being created by GE and Invista has sent Local Business spirits soaring!

Reaction in our local newspaper reflects the exuberance! Quoting from the recent Star News article:

Officials said the decisions by GE-Hitachi and Invista reflect the confidence both companies have in New Hanover County as a pro-business environment - even in a tough economic market."

"Wilmington is a good business environment", where growth makes sense, said Erica Taylor, a spokeswoman for Invista.

"Wilmington is a great place," Andy White, CEO of GE-Hitachi Nuclear, said in a written statement. "We want to team up with the county to make this an attractive place to grow our business."
