Minot North Dakota on the National News.

Yesterday on ABC National news they started out a story with a line something like: "One of the last places you would expect to find oil is North Dakota". I thought that was rather curious, where would you expect to find oil? They have been drilling and finding oil in Western North Dakota for 50 or more years. Do you only expect oil where a hillbilly might be shoot-en at some food (Beverly Hillbillies (TV) for you young ones) or in the Middle East? Oh well, it still was a good story. What I liked most was the part about people combing the records at the court house. Man they got that right. Before the announcement of us having more oil then Saudi Arabia it used to be that if I needed to look at some land records it was just me and my echo. The personal in that department fell all over you as you were probably the only warm body they had seen in a week visit their department. NBC said "A slow day is a day you can look at property sitting down". Keep in mind this is a very big room with lots of chairs, tables, and computer stations. Putting it another way, a typical day is one that takes you half an hour to get from one side of the room to the other (a trip of about 50 feet).

Yes there is a lot of activity here in Minot North Dakota, exciting activity. Currently most of the oil workers are boys moving off the family farm and folks from local service positions moving up to high paying jobs. This activity alone has created a housing frenzy. It absolutely boggles my mind to think whats going to happen when the oil people really get here, the contractors that will be coming, retail and service businesses PLUS the Air Force Base adding 1200 more troops and their families.

It's an exciting time to be living in a boom town and I look forward to riding that wave of excitement. I hope if you are coming here to be part of it you will look me up at Oak Park Realty. We can have coffee and watch the excitement right out my front door.
