Incident at Prairie Lane Elementary in District 66

This is from an e-mail I received a few minutes ago from Mrs. Wallace

*** Saftey Alert ***

We received this information at the close of the school day on Wednesday from one of our parents who works in District 66. I'm passing it along as a precaution. This would be a good time to review with your child the importance to stay away from strangers. With the great weather, I know many of our kids will be outside playing.

From District 66...
Hello, this is Peggy Rupprecht, Director of Communications for Westside
Community Schools. I'm calling to let you know about an incident that took
place near Prairie Lane Elementary around 12:30 this afternoon during
recess. A bald white man with a scruffy beard who was driving a red Honda
Civic hatchback motioned for two first graders to come toward him. A sixth
grade student witnessed this exchange and reported it to a teacher on the
playground. When the teacher radioed for assistance and began to approach
the car, the driver took off quickly. The school principal then contacted
one of the District's School Resource Officers to put together a police
report.

We wanted to make you aware of this situation, so you can remind your
student about not talking to strangers, being extra watchful and seeking
immediate help if needed. Thank you for helping us keep your student safe.

Kayleen Wallace

Thanks,

David Matney
