Thank you, Pam Ehrhart of the Omaha Police Department

Recently, Pam Ehrhart of the Omaha Police Department spoke at the Omaha Area Board of Realtors. Pam is a civilian crime prevention specialist and and has over 20 years experience working in the criminal justice system. She gave a very insightful talk about Realtor safety and safety in general.

Did you know ...

  • The most likely victim of a violent crime is a young male.
  • The most commonly used date rape drug is alcohol.
  • 80% of victims of rape knew their attacker.
  • You best chance of survival if someone has a gun and tells you to get in the car is to run.
  • Most car thefts are the result of leaving the keys in the car.
  • Two of the best ways of preventing theft is to keep your garage door closed and to have a dead bolt.
  • If you are being followed in a car the best place to drive is to a well lit business like a Wal-Mart.

Situational awareness and safety is something that we should never take for granted. I would like to thank Pam again for her expertise and Wayne Plowman of Charleston Homes for helping organize the event.
