Taylor Sawmill Derry NH

Have you ever walked or driven by something on a regular basis and never really see it?

It's part of the landscape you take for granted, always there but you never stop to look or explore.

Taylor Sawmill is like that for me. I've often admired it as I drove by on my way to somewhere important, always too rushed to stop and really take it in.

Today was different, not that I had more time but something compelled me to stop and get out of my car and walk around the Mill. I was surprised to discover it's rich history and the fact that it is a working sawmill and open to the public.

The sawmill over looks Ballard Pond and is part of the 71 acre Ballard State Forest all donated to the state of New Hampshire by the owner, Mr Ballard, who owned the sawmill, a farm house and the 71 acres of forest back in 1953.

Next time your driving along Island Pond Road in Derry stop at Taylor Sawmill, there is parking across the street and walk around...you'll be glad you did.

We haven't tried yet but kayaking or canoing on Ballard Pond must be pretty neat.

Enjoy my video and virtual tour of Taylor Mill and Ballard Pond.
