Taylor Sawmill Derry NH

Have you ever walked or driven by something on a regular basis and never really see it?

It's part of the landscape you take for granted, always there but you never stop to look or explore.

Taylor Sawmill is like that for me. I've often admired it as I drove by on my way to somewhere important, always too rushed to stop and really take it in.

Today was different, not that I had more time but something compelled me to stop and get out of my car and walk around the Mill. I was surprised to discover it's rich history and the fact that it is a working sawmill and open to the public.

The sawmill over looks Ballard Pond and is part of the 71 acre Ballard State Forest all donated to the state of New Hampshire by the owner, Mr Ballard, who owned the sawmill, a farm house and the 71 acres of forest back in 1953.

Next time your driving along Island Pond Road in Derry stop at Taylor Sawmill, there is parking across the street and walk around...you'll be glad you did.

We haven't tried yet but kayaking or canoing on Ballard Pond must be pretty neat.

Enjoy my video and virtual tour of Taylor Mill and Ballard Pond.

Monika,

Have you made the decision to run for state president of your association?

Monika, YEP I have done that many times before I realize how special something was.  We just seem to take things like this for granted.

WE were just out your way this past weekend...we did a wine tour and went to Zorvinos.

I have to get all my pics together  and will do the tour...it was a blast!

Zorvinos is awesome Joan. I did a post about it last year and to this date it gets a ton of hits. Our board has a metting scheduled there.

George...How true that is!

Don...Yes, I am running. The elsection is on the 20th. Wish me luck!

Hi Monika - very pretty for sure!  I've had of that place, but have never been there.  I can just picture a picnic on the tables there and just completely relaxing by the water.

Ann

Hi Moni,

Hope all is well with you and Jay.  This is another great video post illustrating the beauty of your area and what an expert source of information you are about it!   What a beautiufl place you live!

Lisa

Incredible -- I have shown a lot of homes in Derry, but I never came across this hidden treasure.  Very nice job of describing this mill.  I'll have to check it out next time I am in the area.

Monika - I know exact what you meant.  There were many place I would drive by and never stopped because I was too busy, when I finally stopped I wondered what took me so long.

Great visual tour as usual.
