Hampton NH 2011 Christmas Parade

On Saturday December 3rd, the town of Hampton NH held another fantastic Christmas Parade, themed, "Hampton...One Beautiful Town." Most feel this was the best parade ever in Hampton history, and with good reason.

An annual event for over ten years, Hampton suspended the parade in 2007. Three years later Hampton revived the tradition in 2010 with even more colorful floats and marchers than ever. Last years parade lasted about 1 1/2 hours, beginning south of the railroad bridge on Route 1 and ending at Center School on Winnacunnet Road, a distance of about two miles.

This years parade route was the same, but the entire show lasted almost 3 hours. Many fire companies, from as far away as Durham, were represented, along with law enforcement, marching bands, antique autos, floats and Winnacunnet High School athletes. The crowd thronging the sidewalks was estimated to be over 10,000 people.

What set this Hampton Christmas Parade apart from previous years was the inclusion of probably the single most important professional sports trophy in history...The Stanley Cup...accompanied by former members of the 2011 NHL Champion Boston Bruins, Terry O'Reilly and Rick Middleton.


Efforts to bring the Stanley Cup to Hampton started long ago through the support of local business and the Hampton Chamber of Commerce, but I would especially like to highlight the efforts of the owners of The 401 Tavern, Desi Lanio and Mark LaRoche, who hosted the final stop of Stanley Cup in Hampton at the 401.

A good time was had by all the patrons with many opportunities to be photographed beside this historical trophy before it was returned to its permanent residence by Hockey Hall of Fame VP, Phil Pritchard.

Our office is located directly across the street from The 401 Tavern, and as usual, we took the opportunity to set up tables on the sidewalk, providing hot coffee and cider, cookies, brownies and other treats for the nearby crowd. Can't wait to see what next years parade will bring!
