Household Waste Collection Event in Lebanon New Hampshire, there are many items lurking in the home, which folks just are not sure how to dispose of. This is a special event being held in order to dispose of many such items, which you might be sure of.

This event is for disposing of Household Hazardous Waste and Unwanted Medicines. Folks are able to take many such items this day the 15th of October 2011, to the Lebanon Solid Waste Facility, which is located on Route 12A in Lebanon, New Hampshire between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. this afternoon. Residents of participating Towns are able to dispose items for Free. Residents from other Towns are also welcome to bring their items, but there will be a Fee charged to does folks.
Household Waste Collection Event in Lebanon New Hampshire, unwanted medicines will be accepted, you need to follow the following to do so. Bring your unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications (including veterinary medicine) as follows:
• Medicines in their original containers
• Leave labels on medicine
• Black out patient’s name only
• Do NOT bring sharps or needles (EpiPens OK)
Below you will find a list of the Town which are participating Towns, items which not to bring for disposal, and items which folks are able to bring.
Participating New Hampshire Towns of the 15th of October 2011 Waste Collection: Cornish, Enfield, Goshen, Hanover, Lebanon, Lempster, Lyme, New London, Newbury, Newport, Orford, Piermont, Plainfield, Springfield, Sunapee, Unity, Washington, and Wilmot.
Household Waste Collection Event in Lebanon New Hampshire, What folks are Not able to bring:
• Latex paint is not considered hazardous. Use kitty litter or shredded paper to dry out latex paint and then throw in your trash. Empty, dry paint cans may be recycled as scrap metal at your recycling facility.
• Asbestos must be handled by a specialist. Contact NH DES at 271-1370 for disposal info.
• Empty aerosol cans can be recycled with scrap metal. Talk to your town first.
• Alkaline batteries for flashlights and other household items are not considered hazardous and can be thrown in the trash. This includes most non-rechargeable batteries such as AA, AAA, C, D, and 9-volt batteries.
• Automotive batteries can be exchanged, given, or even sold to local garages and auto parts stores.
• Used motor oil is collected at many town facilities or local garages.
• Fluorescent lights - Check with your Town to see if they take them. Food Co-ops in the Upper Valley and Home Depot take CFLs (spiral bulbs); the NH state-funded hardware store take-back program ended; some Vermont hardware stores may take limited number of tubes/bulbs for free.
• Ammunition and explosives, fire extinguishers - Contact your local police or fire departments.
• Propane tanks can be exchanged or refilled at a propane distributor.
• Medical Sharps must be placed inside a rigid, puncture-resistant container such as a detergent bottle with cap, seal cap with duct tape, and label container with marker, “Sharps, not for recycling.” Dispose of with regular trash. EpiPens may be brought to unwanted medicine collections.
The Fee for Residents of Non-Participating Towns is $40.00 or more dependent on type and quantity of materials. Up to one gallon of medicine only (including containers) is $25.00.

Look on the product warning labels for words like “caution,” flammable,” “reactive,” “caustic,” or “poisonous.” Examples of hazardous products to bring to a collection are as follows:
• Button batteries
• Rechargeable batteries
• Ni-cad batteries
• NEW Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors with radioactive symbol
• Oil-based paint only (not latex)
• Solvents
• Varnishes
• Stains
• Paint removers
• Household cleaners
• Polishes
• Photo chemicals
• Hobby chemicals
• Pool chemicals
• Pesticides & herbicides
• Flea powder
• Adhesives
• Driveway sealer
• Mercury-containing devices such as thermostats and thermometers.
