I’m curious to see what kind of a response I get on this post. I am a Realtor in seacoast NH & ME and this is where I best service buyers and sellers. Staying in my own back yard makes total sense to me. Yes, I’m licensed in the state of NH & ME but that doesn’t mean I want to service the whole state! Not venturing out of my back yard, so to speak, and pretending I know about towns and cities I am not familiar with doesn’t make sense.
Not only from a geographical point of view it doesn’t make sense to travel more than anhour or more to show a house that is for sale. The towns, cities, and neighborhoods aren’t familiar to me so I feel out of my element. How can I answer questions honestly that I might be asked by buyers when I don’t really know from practical experience what the
Selling a house has many components to it, not the least of which is the paper work and follow through that it takes to see the transaction from contract to closing. The other day someone called me on a listing I have who is up north two hours away. She wanted to show the house. This seemed ludicrous to go this far out of her back yard and it was obvious she wasn’t familiar with the area in the least, let alone the house and neighborhood it is located in.
What do you think….? Why not refer the prospective buyer out to someone in the immediate area who can best service the customer or client. My gosh some people will do anything to try and get a sale. Crazy or not?….. Do let me know by emailing a comment on this please. I’d really appreciate it……
Thank you,
