FROM DAY TO DAY I NEVER KNOW IF I'LL BE IN SECOND OR THIRD PLACE ON AAR-www.patricia4realestate-Hampton NH Real Estate-Portsmouth NH Real Estate

The quick way to gain attention within your local area and go to the top on AR is with some friendly competition.

Another person whom shall remain nameless is neck and neck with me all the time on AR. We constantly, I do mean constantly vie for the second and third spot at the top of our local area . If I'm second one day she'll get right to posting a blog or two and then she jumps to the second place spot.

From day to day, hour to hour we go up and down ~ second place, third place......second place, third place. It's friendly and competitive. It pushed me every day to blog whether I feel like it or not. It might be late in the evening and I'm on AR to see where "we are" on the roster! Ha.....it's fun, it's competitive and it's non-stop. It sure has given me a reason to daily blog away.

Yes content is key, but if you're not at the top of the list, either first, second or third, chances are you won't get noticed.

Ha! I wonder if anyone else is cometing for the top 1, 2, or 3 spots in their local areas. Let me know by leaving me a comment.

I'd love to hear from you. Excuse me now, I have to go blog away.........2nd, third, .....third, second.....second, third...and so on day after day after day. By the way I bet you're wonder about the first place spot...right? We'll it's been taken by someone who started with AR on day #1....Hey, we're give her a run for her money and will be catching up to her one of these days soon.

I just wrote a post on this last week as I am clueless of the necessity of the point or ranking system.  Now I am only 4th or 5th in Austin, but I have received zero benefit from the ranking or the points that are noticeable.  Perhaps it does help me indirectly with people seeing my posts, but not commenting.....creating a great branding mechanism.

I really don't care about being #1 or #2, as my main focus is to learn, to teach, to gain stronger search results, and to improve my writing skills to the public.  I did get a comment back that hitting 300k started noticeable results.  When I get there later this year, I will be able to make a better comment......  Cheers and way to go!!!

I am fighting to break out of 7th ,, larger market area but same feeling of trying to move up

That is so funny, I was keeping up with Lenn and Todd for #1 and 2 overall. Good luck

I never would have gotten to 100,000 when I did, if not for keeping up with you!

Hi Tim,

All that you say is true and while I agree, it's become almost a race if you will with the other person. Of course being on AR is the learning and social aspect. With that said, i do think it does help when someone is looking locally/localism they will look at the top 6 maybe, more than likely they aren't moving down the list to #'s past the top 4 or 6. This might give me a better chance of getting a lead.

With that said, like you, I've never gotten one lead from AR in two 1/2 years!! Ha....so much for that!

Thanks for your time to comment and good luck with your ranking , Thanks for the comment.

My goal was to get 500,000 points during my first year at ActiveRain and let the rankings fall where they may although I thought that if I did that I'd be in the #2 or #3 spot for California, San Diego County, City of San Diego, and home inspectors.

Unfortunately, ActiveRain changed the points system on May 1 which has seriously slowed down a lot of people, including me. I'll be lucky now if I get to 375,000 for my first year.

However, I am the #3 home inspector, and the #3 real estate professional in California, #2 in San Diego County, and #1 in the City of San Diego. So part of mission accomplished. And I can definitely say that points (rankings) do matter when it comes to referrals from other ActiveRain members and, in at least two cases, choices made by the general public.

Hey Russell,

Thanks for the comment  today on my blog. It's always good to hear from you.

Also, thanks for validating my thoughts about rankings....

Patricia
