We've all heard the latest news about the Federal Reserve dropping rates. And I know there are plenty of home-buyers out there wondering just what that means to them at this point.
Interest rates are now the lowest they've been in the last three years - how great is that??!!?
Plenty of buyers have been trying to time the market, and that is a VERY difficult thing to do. Are the prices going down more, will the interest rates go down any more - what should I do...these are things we know buyers are thinking right now because we get the phone calls and emails asking just that.
The plain and simple answer is - we just don't know! We can make predictions based on facts and figures from the last few months, and those can indicate trends. But at best, those are educated guesses.
Here's what we can tell you -
So, what does that really mean to you, if you're thinking about buying right now?
Get out there and find yourself the right home or condo for you! Prices may, or may not, remain where they are and interest rates may, or may not, remain where they are. But if you find just the right home or condo for you, that likely won't remain for sale for long as properties that are priced correctly are selling.
The home or condo you find today that you love just may be the home or condo someone else saw a couple days ago that they also loved, and they may just be making a move on it right now because of these great rates.
If you'd like to learn more about the financing process and getting pre-approved for Portsmouth NH homes or condos, call me or email me and I can share with you my recommended and trusted local lenders who'll work hard to help you out.
If you're a Seacoast NH or southern Maine buyer, and you want to find out how you can find your next new home or condo, make sure to speak to an expert local professional who will be dedicated to helping you out. I would be very happy to talk with you and/or set up a time to meet to help you on your way to reaching your real estate goals.

Ann, I'm sure you know there are deals out there. The buyers have started finding their confidence in SW Florida already. I'm hoping they get their new home in NH soon, too.
Real estate is local and my local market has picked up...especially in the under 300,000 price point.
We are very busy and under $ 300 K we are seeing multiple offers on many properties. A good time to buy is now here in NH and Maine.
Very nice Ann.
We are taking another 5-10% off the list prices through negotiation. Sometimes I think listing agents are just waiting for us buyers agents to make an offer to get the prices down.
Hi Ann...we are seeing moe activity out our way too....but in the lower ranges. The interest rate changes seem to be building confidence a bit!
Ann, if it's anything in Portsmouth like it is in my neck of the woods, low prices, good negotiation and great interest rates mean get in now. Keep up the great work for the New Hampshire home buyers.
Ann... great message. We need to keep writing about this, Business has picked up everywhere and I hope it continues. Again, good message, because we need to curb the general fears that the general media has written about in the last 6 months.
Chris - I'm glad to hear that's happening in your area. We are seeing pent-up demand in some areas, and when a property comes on the market there, we'll have many showings with multiple offers all in just a few days. We're also seeing investors getting back into the market, too.
Monika - we're seeing activity in a variety of price ranges, and a number of buyers getting back into the market.
Jay - we're seeing the same thing, but in higher price ranges, too.
Linda - it's busy up here, too, and I'm thinking this is going to continue from the signs we're seeing.
Thanks for the comments!
Ann
Lenn - on some properties, we're seeing similar numbers. And on some that are priced aggressively, we're seeing full price and even a little over. Just depends on the property, how it's priced and where it is. But we're seeing buyers get back into the market and properties selling fairly quickly lately.
Joan - more great news around New Hampshire!
Joey - get in now is right! There are some great buys out there, and who knows what the market will be like in a few months. Those buys might not be there, or that special house or condo might not be either.
Jeff - the media needs to lay off this 'national real estate market' junk and get real with local facts and figures, and actually talk to REAL real estate experts, not the purported 'experts' these talk shows bring on who have conflicts of interest when they promote the stock market like they do. They're no more a real estate expert than I am a stock market expert. When people invest in real estate, guess where they're NOT putting their money? Hello!!
Thanks much for the comments!
Ann
Ann well said, the only thing we can be sure of is what interest rates and house prices are right now, what they will be, who knows? People should be making their decision on whether or not they feel the house price is right and if they are getting a good interest rate. Those who are waiting to get the cheapest price and lowest rate will never get it, because when the houses are at the cheapest price and the rates at their lowest, they will still be waiting for them to get lower. People need to stop worrying about what could possibly be and start making decisions on what is.
