Portsmouth NH - Come Celebrate Mardi Gras With Us!

Beads

Mardi Gras celebrations aren't just for New Orleans!

Portsmouth NH residents celebrate the spirit and cultural traditions of Mardi Gras around the Seacoast in a variety of ways.

Come celebrate with us and join in the fun - something for everyone, kids and adults alike!

Feb. 5th- Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras celebration with the Jumbo Circus Peanuts Band at The Press Room in downtown Portsmouth. Show time is at 9pm, and there'll be plenty of food to eat and libations to consume. And don't forget the music and dancing - Jumbo Circus Peanuts is an AWESOME band. We've heard them several times, and you won't want to miss this celebration.

Feb. 5th - Crescent City's Fat Tuesday Festivities in Dover. Take part in the 7th annual Fat Tuesday Pub and Grub Crawl. Five local downtown Dover restaurants and pubs are taking part: La Fiesta Brick & Brew; Cartelli's Bar & Grill; The Barley Pub; Kelley's Row; and Blue Latitudes. Indulge in New Orleans style food and drink, along with some incredible music at each location. Cost for the Mardi Gras crawl is $20.00 and begins at 5:30pm. What a fun night, and the food menus look just awesome!Mardi Gras

Feb. 9th
- The Children's Museum of Portsmouth joins in the festivities and fun with its third annual "Family Mardi Gras Celebration". Celebrating the cultural traditions of Mardi Gras, offerings include live Cajun music, New Orleans-style foods, other entertainment, as well as a cute children's parade through the museum. Family fun time is 10am to 5pm.

As you can see, Mardi Gras celebrations aren't just for those living in and visiting New Orleans - we've got plenty of fun and festivities right here in the Portsmouth NH Seacoast areas.

I bet that is a lot of fun! I love Mardi Gras and that fat Tuesday sounds like a blast!

I had no idea that there was a Carnival celebration in NH!  I hope you have a fabulous time.  Happy Mardi Gras to you, Ann!

ANn, Who would have thunk it Mardi Gras in NH. Chidren's Museum Thing is my cup of tea!

Ann.... damn, I have been so busy, that I completely forgot about Mardi Gras...   I guess it comes with age and not always going out also...  lol  In any case, it sounds like a great time in your town, in regards to Mardi Gras.  thanks for sharing this.

It looks like you do not need to go to New Orleans to have fun this time of year.  We will be having Pro Bowl activities for the next week or so here.  It is not Mardi Gras, but it is fun.

Ann- How fun is that! Make sure to take some fun photos! Have a great time.

hi Ann: I think that photo of you above... the one with the green and purple hat, and the feathers... is really great.  You need to feature that on your website and blog. <grin>... take care.

Ann,

What did you do to collect all those bead necklaces?  LOL

Ann,

We don't have Mardi Gras here but I'm sure yours is as good as New Orleans.

Very fun. we went to a Mardi Gras party here in Charlottesville last weekend! Costumes, beads, King Cake and of course a parade with the King and Queen!

Your Friend in Charlottesville!

Ann - Thanks for the tip - perhaps we'll be dropping in for some of the festivities.

Fun photos, Ann. Sorry we won't be able to make it. But we can thank you for your comment on the recent piece we did with photos of the lake and our family. this and that are much apppreciated.

hope the year is serving you well

best

Ann, that seems like it would be fun to attend, I don't think that we have any towns around here that have a Mardi Gras celebration, at least I have not heard of any.

Monika - I really wanted to get to the Press Room to hear the Jumbo Circus Peanuts because they're SO good, but I didn't make it.  That Pub Crawl in Dover sounded like fun, too.

Lisa - we celebrate anyone's holidays and events up here.  Too much fun to pass up doing it that way!

Jeff - we have a good time here in Portsmouth doing all kinds of things!  You should find your way up here sometime and check it out.

Randy - I've been in Honolulu during Pro Bowl Week in the past, and it was lots of fun.  The people-watching was great, too, especially since we stayed in the same hotel that most of the players were staying in.  I think it was Hilton Hawaiian Gardens, if I recall correctly.  Beautiful hotel and grounds.

Katerina - no pics as I didn't make to any of the fun last night, unfortunately.

Many thanks for reading!
Ann

Karen Anne - well now, isn't that a great idea!  A friend of mine told me that picture could actually be me if only I was still about 8-9 years old!  It could pass as me back then.  At first, I thought you were talking about 1st picture with all the beads.......   ;-)

Neal - ah, not quite like the REAL Big Easy's Mardi Gras, that's for sure!

Mike;-)

Charles - your party sounds like it was a great time!  Got any pictures you can share with us?  You should write a post and use your pictures in it, if you have some.

Thanks for the comments!
Ann

Judy - did you make it any of the Fat Tuesday celebrations?  Bet they were fun, if you did!

Gary - thanks for stopping by, and let's hope the year is a good one for all of us!

George - we've had them up here for a number of years now.  We used to have a bar in the Sheraton downtownd called Crewe Orleans, and they may have started it.  I can't remember where the first place was to put on something to do with Mardi Gras.  But fun!

Thanks for the comments!

Ann, that is so cool! I would wear my Patriots beads with pride- and A Pub Crawl would be in order. Have Fun!!!

Hi Debbie - break out those Patriots beads!!  I think I have a set of those, too.

Thanks for commenting!
