Portsmouth NH Homes and Condos - Market Update for Dec. 2008

Portsmouth New Hampshire Real Estate Market Update - December 2008

Portsmouth NH - Downtown Popovers Bakery and Cafe
The real estate market in Portsmouth had ups and downs in 2008. Demand was there, inventory was there in some parts of the market and in other parts it was very lean. Some areas in town have a pent-up demand, such as the Little Harbor area, and others have an over-supply of homes or condos on the market.

Real estate in Portsmouth NH and the surrounding area is always a topic of interest for most people in this area. As the real estate market goes, so goes most other things, it seems.

    Ann,

2008 certainly had it's ups and down.  Looks like you have a good variety of condos available based on the price range.  Good list to sale ratio when compared to some markets.

Hey Jeff - this is a beautiful area, and so easy to take loads of pictures of.  The problem is deciding which ones to use!  ;-)

    Thanks for reading and commenting!

Hi Jennifer - ups and downs for sure, and hopefully more stability going forward for all of us.  I thought out list-to-sell ratios were pretty good, especially the condos ratio.

Not bad for DOM huh? Looks like few sales but stable prices. Ours has gone up and down and back up again. Fewer sales but stable prices for us in the long run. Let's see how these next few months play out.

I love your follow me on twitter button, where did you get that? I want one too:)

Ann- Interesting numbers...it just goes to show how local Real Estate really is.  Nice job you did on this, helps peole understand :)

    Hi Ann,

I have to get back to my market reports. I just put a few out there but I have about another 5 areas I have to update. I love the new design you have.

Hi Sally - relatively speaking, those days on market aren't bad, but before this particular market, our numbers were significantly lower than what we're seeing right now.  And for the most part, they've been getting better, but the days on market for condos in Dec. was a bit higher than it had been previously.

Hi Katerina - I don't remember where I got that, but it was a link to some graphics in someone's post here on AR that was provided for any of us to use.

Hey Kathy - oh yeah, real estate is super local for sure!  I think raw numbers can be pretty boring for most people, so I try to write about them and make it interesting to read.  Thanks!

Hey Neal - I get a lot of people who read my market reports on my outside blog, so I know consumers are out there reading them.  Who doesn't have interest in real estate in their local markets?  Thanks for the compliment on the format!

If I didn't love Asheville, I would love Portsmouth..

The pictures you share manage to capture the spirit of your town..I can tell just from those photos that you must love it there....

Ann--Your photos really enhance your detailed market report! Looks like condos are selling at the same rate in your area as they are in Mpls/St Paul...very slowly.

Hey janeAnne - I know you'd love it here, too!  I think your area is just beautiful and I'll be back again this summer, about the same time as last year.  And I do really love living here for sure.  I could do without any more snow at this point, but I still love this beautiful area I call home!

Hi Teri - thanks for the comment on my pictures.  I agree with you about them making market reports a bit more interesting.  Portsmouth is a great condo town, and typically they sell at a pretty good clip, but not in December they didn't.
