Ann- It certainly looks like you found a way of posting about your local area. That didn't take long. I love all the old buildings and towns in the NE.

Ann- I want to shop an shop.. Portsmouth is adorable..

Paula - Yep, I found a way for sure!  I have loads of ideas in my head, and am working on getting them into posts, slowlly but surely....  ;-)

We have some beautiful old buildings here in Portsmouth as well as in many of the local area towns.  Portsmouth has an awesome downtown - a perfect walking town.

Thanks for reading!

Kaye - Well come on over the East Coast, and we'll shop and shop!  Portsmouth is even more so when you see it in person.  Pictures never capture the real essence of a place, and you really have to visit Portsmouth to really experience it.  Can you tell I LOVE living here?!?!?!?

Thanks for reading and commenting!
Ann

THAT's what I'm talking about.......talk to me about shopping and I'm there!  Those shops look so cute - I love those downtown streets....Now I definitely have to go visit you.

Hi Ines - Yes you do!  Shopping and eating - we've got ya covered here in Portsmouth - c'mon up!!!

Ann

Ann,

So...where is my daily tour?

Ann..There was a Gallery store I loved(Glass) I think it was Simply Mudd ? Is it still there? it was at the four street intersection near the water.

We haven't been in in about 2 years!

I love it when you talk about restaurants, you need to do more of that. I eat vicariously threw you.

It sounds delightful.

Ann: I judge whether or not I like a cityscape (or landscape) photograph by how viewing it makes me feel, and howactive rain|active codgers, your active fans ©2007 Codger™ Images long I gaze at it. Does it make want to be there in the photo, and for how long will I linger? Well, I lingered in downtown Portsmouth, and lingered, and lingered. Very nice presentation, Ann!

Jay

Ann, it's nice to see this featured.  Congratulations.  Not only do I want to shop on Friday night I want to stop for some dessert afterwards.  =)

Well Well Well another little star for the best tour guide and of course Realtor in NH! LOL!

Great post my friend and very well written.  You are creating a very nice Localism probile for your beautiful city.  Keep up the great work my friend and have a Happy Mothers Day.

Hey Ann...great post as always.  Maybe we can check out one of these trendy restaurants tomorrow?!!  And, I see you broke 100,000 congrats on that.  You go girl!!

Neal - ah, your daily tour?  Come on up and you'll get the tour!

Joan - there is a gallery called that, and I believe it's in the same location.  Don't let 2 more years go by before you come back!  You're only 45 minutes away!!

Dena - ooh, you would LOVE all the restaurants around here!  You name it, we've got it and probably several of them, too.

Carolin - it is!!  ;-)

Jay - what a great compliment!  I love that you lingered over downtown Portsmouth - these pictures don't do our beautiful downtown area justice.  It is a beautiful downtown in which to linger, that's for sure!  Thank you!!

Maggie - come on up and we can shop and dine to our heart's delight!  Loads of great shops and all kinds of great restaurants and cafes!

Neal - thank you sir!!

George - thank you very much for your very nice compliments!  Your posts inspire me for sure....

Laurie - shoes, shoes and more shoes!!  We've got ya covered here in this area for sure!  ;-)

Sue - thanks for reading, and for noticing the 100,000 crossing!  Ah, so many choices for dining - where shall we go???

Looking at the photos and reading the shop names, it's nice to find a corner of America that hasn't been overrun by strip malls or the giant megamalls. It looks like this is an area where customer relationships come first and business is a distant second. And congrats on sneaking over the 100K mark!

Excellent post. Shows the spirit of the town and the kind of life you can expect there. Nice photos, they do it justice. -Charles

I LOVE your downtown! I love all the brick and white windows! Very New England.  I am not a shopper, but with shops like that, I may become one. :) Congratulations on making it to the 100k Club!

John - thanks for reading and commenting!  We do have a couple of malls here to be sure, but our downtowns are quaint and charming and wonderful places to enjoy.  And thank you for the congrats!  ;-)

Charles - thank you so much for that feedback!  This is a wonderful place to live and the spirit here is one of neighbors and sharing and caring and enjoying life.

Mariana - thank YOU!!  It certainly is quintessential New England for sure!  I'm not much of a shopper either, but this really is a great walking town - loads of shops, galleries and all kinds of places to catch a bite to eat.  And thanks for the congrats!!  ;-)

i always marveled at the great restaurants and wondered how we could support them as i visited for another fantastic lunch or dinner.

the oar house was always a favorite.

Hey Jay - it sounds like you figured out ways to support them!  We've got even more now - you should venture up for a visit, a long enough visit to enjoy several meals here in Portsmouth!  The Oar House is still there, too - come on up!

Ann
