9/11 victims and heroes at 16th Annual Old Towne Day

When: Saturday, September 11th (rain or shine)
Time: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Place: Riley Field Complex ~ Nashua and County Roads.

Cost: Free to get in... Various costs for contests and special events ~ see below

The Bedford Old Town Day Committee has planned a special tribute to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11 and those who were heroes; the police, firefighters, emergency personnel, soldiers, and all the citizens who came to the aid of those in need. The Flag of Honors and the Flag of Heroes will be presented.

The Flag of Honor will contain the names of every victim lost, and the Flag of Heroes will contain the names of the emergency services personnel who lost their lives.

The "Taste of Bedford" will provide samples of delicious foods from a many local restaurants. Tickets 1 $1.00 tickets... samplings from Carrabba's Italian Grill, Fratellos and Red Arrow Diner. 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

You will want to visit the creative arts & crafts booths. Then, treat yourself to ice cream sundaes at the ticket booth by the pool area. 2 $1.00 tickets

Kids of all ages can participate in the frog jumping contest from 1:30p.m. - 3:00 p.m... Kids K Foot Race is planned for 12:00 noon.

For the first time, the Parks & Recreation Department will sponsor a chocolate chip cookie contest for residents. The winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m. There is a junior and adult division, and first- and second-place winners within each division will receive ribbons.

Kids can enjoy the bounce house thanks to the Bedford Men's club. The education club at Joppa Hill will have a petting farm and lots of activities for kids.

Of course there will be entertainment...the Haynes Family Band, the Riddle Brook chorus, a martial arts demonstration by Mark Lawrence Martial Arts Academy, the North Main Music Guitar Army.

The day will conclude with the ever popular Bullfrog Bounce at 3:00 p.m. You can purchase bounce tickets in advance or at the event ticket booths. Tickets $2.00 a piece or 3 tickets for $5.00

Adults and children may purchase a wrist band for $8 in order to participate in the games and activities provided by local businesses and organizations, such as the frog jumping contest.

Funds from the Olde Towne Day will be shared with Bedford Historical Society, Bedford High School Crew Team, Bedford Barracudas Swim Team, Bedford Village Common Development Committee.
