Thinking Green: Redoing A Room!

Thinking Green: Redoing a room!

Everyone has that one room (or maybe more) that the want to redecorate. I know I do. And if you’re looking for an excuse, or are retouching up a room for selling, make it eco-friendly! It’s not only an amazing selling point, something to brag about, or an excuse to revamp an old room; it’s also a way to reduce your environmental impact.

There are very simple ways to redo a room, make it stylish, and eco-friendly. They now make environmental paint. It has way less contaminants, and there are a decent amount of colors to choose from. This paint comes in many pastel shades, contains zero volatile organic compounds, and is easily cleanable.

There are tons of eco-friendly furniture. Try buying a recycled wood base, and organic bedding (in my opinion organic bedding is a better quality, and is more comfortable). There are even cribs if you’re looking for a young one, couches and love seats.

Pretty much any furniture, bedding, paint, or wall accessories you find are also available from an eco-friendly company that uses recycled materials. Try installing fans instead of air conditioners, energy saving light bulbs instead of regular ones, recycled counter tops rather that granite or wood. (There are some amazingly beautiful recycled counter tops made with various shades of glass.)

Eco-friendly rooms can be done quite cheaply as well. Most sites have deals, and compare buttons that allow you to get the best price on things. And being able to tell a potential buyer that this room is environmentally friendly can be a huge selling point. (Or maybe you just want to be able to stick it to that snobby friend for once!). Regardless of the reason for touching up an old room consider making it eco-friendly. A little here and there goes a long way.
