Natural disasters. We get a couple forming but not enough ground to touch down and start doing anything.
Wow! I grew up in Topeka, Kansas, aka Tornado Alley! They are really scary things. You don't think of them in New England!
Hi Monika,
We had a few down here too! One happend to go right across the water of one my listings the day before closing, luckily no one was hurt. Pretty scary stuff! :)
Welcome to our world....Arkansas!! We face those dudes every year with fear and wonder! We wonder which town gets hit next!
Moni, those are some scary pictures! After living through one I certainly don't want to go through another one. They are so random and scary. The story of the grandmother broke my heart when I saw it on the news.
Hi Monika - I drove right through that same area last Sunday on the way to Mike's cookout and couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was awful to see that.
I used to live in Arkansas and Texas, and we would have tornado drills in school instead of fire drills most of the time. It was scary to live in those areas when tornadoes were so prevalent. Up here, I'm much rather deal with our 'normal' weather occurences than the nasty weather we've had this summer at times.
That Route 4 area is so sad to see when you drive through there....

We get them here occassionally but not too often, the sky can get so scary, glad we have a basement for the times we do have a Warning. Good job on the video's sharing your experience.
Hi Monika I was up further north in York Beach and although it was away from that area the winds were crazy.
We had the same thing here about 2 months ago. I was on my way home from visiting a builder when it hit. I pulled over in Waterford and the storm passed. When I got to the road home, I had to take about 3 different routes to find passable roads.
Of course, I tried to drive aroung a tree and got stuck in a ditch. Thankfully a lovely gentleman stopped and drove me out. 4wheel drive works better for men.
Monika I am thankful that tornado's are not very common here in Connecticut either. How close was it to where you live.
It is so scary! Mother nature can be very violent! We are lucky that we don't have to worry about them on a regular basis.
Hey Monika,
The tornado got close to us- doing some major damage in Ossipee but not nearly as bad as those areas you show...I dunno, personally I think we are going to continue to experience more extreme weather conditions in the future as our environment continues to change. It feels like fall this morning with temps at my house of 50 degrees and this summer was nearly a wash out with the wettest July (and soon to be wettest August) in Mt. Washington Valley history...after an endless winter of record snowfall.
Eeek...but who knows....I hope I am wrong!
Sean
Monika - It can happen so quickly and it does change the landscape. Really sorry to hear it resulted in death.
This is incredible -- I grew up in Tornado country in Oklahoma -- I never thought we would experience tornados here in New Hampshire. This has been a most unusual summer weather-wise. I guess now you and Jay have become "storm chasers" (lol).
I happened to be home that day... in the lakes region. It went through only a short distance from my house. You could hear it for miles. Unbelievable! My heart goes out to all those who lost so much!
