Bike race on Mount Washington

I had a friend stay with me this weekend. He is an avid bicyclist and came to New Hampshire from California to race up Mt. Washington. It seems that this is quite the event limited to only 600 bikers. The day of the event turned out to be quite nice, no rain. This event was once covered by Sports Illustrated, hence its popularity. I was told that if you did not register within the first 15 minutes you were shut out. Now, not being a biker, I am not sure I understand why you would pay to enter to ride your bike straight uphill! The view at the top of the mountain is breathtaking, however, I will go up in my car. Thanks to all who participated and helped with this great annual event.
