WHO ARE YOUR NEIGHBORS

Our lives are so full of things that keep us busy, we don't have time to notice what our nieghbors are up to.

We have an elderly man who lives in our neighborhood. He keeps to himself and no one seems to know anything about him. His home is in disrepair and unfortunately that condition affects the value of the rest of the neighborhood.

I have another neighbor who stopped by his home and introduced himself. The elderly man was very happy to have some company. It turns out that he needed a lot of help with some day to day items that we don't think twice about. He needed help with groceries, laundry, house cleaning,etc. My neighbor and his family spent an entire weekend at his home to help with cleaning up the yard and fixing a few items around the home that needed repair. He organized a group of neighbors to spruce up the home with a coat of paint. It was a small house and it took the group only one weekend to do the job. His home looks as neat as the rest of the homes in the neighborhood now.

He was very appreciative of the help and now one of us or another checks up on him regularly. It is very rewarding to see how one can lift the spirits of someone in need and add true "value" to the neighborhood.
