Burlington City, New Jersey Housing Court Established
Burlington city residents will have to obey stricter policies and follow new procedures when it comes to housing code violations.
In the past, hearings for housing code citations were heard in municipal court. A new housing court has been created. The new housing court will speed up hearings for housing code violations as well as require faster corrective action. In addition, changes to the housing code will allow for fewer warnings for residents and landlords.
Housing court will be held every week, about an hour prior to regular municipal court. Extenuating circumstances will be considered, such as weather issues that prevent a violation from being immediately corrected. Violations for grass, weeds, brush, chipped paint, and litter are expected to be turned around in one week.
Residents can call anonymously to a tip line to report violations. The tip line number is (609) 864-2327,
Have a great day
