Barclay Farms Cherry Hill NJ – A Great Place to Buy a Home Presented by Leander McClain, Realtor NJSouthRealEstate.com
After World War II, many returning GI’s were looking to buy a home. As a result, Cherry Hill New Jersey experienced both population and economic growth. One result of that growth was the Barclay Farms neighborhood just off Route 70. A local builder by the name of Bob Scarborough began developing a new neighborhood for buyers looking to buy a home. Barclay Farms was built on the site of the historic Barclay Farmstead. The farmstead was built in 1816 by a Quaker farmer Joseph Thorn.
Besides the mature trees, one of the wonderful things about the neighborhood is that one of New Jersey’s historic places exists here. Listed on the National & New Jersey Registers of Historic Place, 32 acres of the original Barclay Farmstead is still in existence and is open for tours. Once on site, visitors step back in time to 1816.
When you buy a house in the Barclay Farms neighborhood, you will be in close proximity to one of New Jersey’s two covered bridges. In 1959, Bob Scarborough wanted to extend the neighborhood across the North Fork of Cooper River, a small creek on site. Because Bob loved covered bridge architecture, He commissioned architect Malcolm Wells to design a bridge for the neighborhood. The bridge was dedicated on Valentines Day 1959

Barclay Farms also has its own swim club, highly rated public pre-school and Barclay Farms Shopping Center which is home to a variety of stores of commercial office space. If you are looking to find a home in Barclay Farms, you are in luck.
The neighborhood features of variety 3 – 5 bedroom homes with 2-3 bathrooms. If you want to buy a home that is in move in condition, there are many available for sale.
