Jefferson Juniors Celebrate Woman's History Month

The Junior Woman's Club of Jefferson Township, and the Jefferson Township Public Library, are proud to present Penny Colman's Celebrating Women on Thursday, March 10 at 7 p.m. The program will take place at the Senior Center, Schoolhouse Road, Oak Ridge, NJ, and will be followed by a short reception with coffee and cake.

The two groups are collaborating in an effort to further their missions by educating, informing and inspiring the residents of Jefferson Township during Women's History Month in March. Women's History Month is an initiative of the National Women's History Project, an organization devoted to teaching as many people as possible about women's role in history.

Celebrating Women is a dynamic, multimedia PowerPoint presentation of photographs narrated by award-winning author Penny Colman. Her entertaining commentary includes life lessons from yesterday's women to today's. Her unique photographs showcase women's extraordinary contributions to building America. The program is a result of the many road trips taken by Penny to women's history sites.

Colman is also a widely published and award-winning author whose work includes Rosie the Riveter: Women Working on the Home Front in World War II and Adventurous Women: Eight True Stories About Women Who Made a Difference. She currently teaches at Teachers College, Columbia University. She will be selling and signing copies of her books after the presentation.

This presentation is free and open to the public. Donations to the Junior Woman's Club of Jefferson Township's state project, The Valerie Fund, will be gratefully accepted following the performance. Anyone interested in joining the Jefferson Juniors is invited to stay for a short meeting after the reception.

Please join the Jefferson Juniors and the Library for an enjoyable evening of entertainment, enrichment and camaraderie. For more information, please call Kimberly Reid at 973-409-4135.
