A family owned karate school for over 20 years, the Maywood Karate Academy is the Gold Standard for Karate tuition in the region.

Their dedication to each member is remarkable, and evident by the fact that even during a recession, their membership and testing classes have grown throughout 2009 !

Owners Dave and Mike Senak and their son Mason have made this Dojo an extended home for their students, and treat all members like family !

Mason Senak - a 5th Dan Black Belt, is an integral part of the Academy's success. His love of the art is evident with every class he teaches, and he talked to me about many of the great benefits that karate offers, including increased self confidence, goal reaching techniques, improved focus, which often leads to better academic performance, and much greater discipline in all aspects of life.

The management and instructors of this Academy are the best at what they do. In fact the school is so well respected, that on 8/9/2009 the owners and instructors leave to embark on a trip of a lifetime to Okinawa, Japan to compete and demonstrate in one of the largest Karate Competitions in the World !

There will be 100s of competitors from dozens of countries, all competing in the Worldwide Spotlight for this specific art !

In addition, the Maywood Academy has been bestowed the biggest honor of the event, by being asked to close the ceremony with a group demonstration of their craft !!!!!!

This is an incredible honor in front of thousands of other Shorin Ryu Shidokah practitioners, and they are truly thrilled for the incredible invitation !

Upon their return, they will resume their regular schedule at the Academy which is open Monday to Saturday.

They include classes for adults down to youth classes from 4yrs old, and even a pre-Karate class for 3-4 year olds ! They will also work with month to month contracts, and perform belt testing monthly on site at the Dojo.

... they even have themed birthday parties with a fun day of lessons and games !
