One of the towns that are not quite considered part of the Pascack Valley is the serene and scenic town of Old Tappan. In the 1700's, scenic Old Tappan was actually part of Tappan, New York. Nestled between the towns of River Vale, Harrington Park, Norwood and Northvale, this beautiful town is located right on the New York State borderline just 12 miles from NYC. In the late 1800's a portion of Old Tappan had been part of River Vale but eventually that portion was annexed to Old Tappan. The Northern Valley Regional High School was not opened until the early 1960's. It serves the towns of Old Tappan, Northvale, Norwood, Harrington Park and Rockleigh.
Growing up in River Vale in the area of town that borders Harrington Park and Old Tappan, the borders were so fuzzy that to Bob and Lisa, the town of Old Tappan was practically part of the Pascack Valley area.
Residents can enjoy views of Lake Tappan!

There are also Five Local Parks, a Skating Rink, 3 public Playgrounds and 3 Athletic Fields.
The School System is nationally recognized and highly sought after.

Shopping locally is convenient for the residents to enjoy.
