- Due to the current economic crisis as a home inspector and have seen almost a 50% drop off in business. I have started to see a bit more activity on my end and in the last month or so.

2. What were the qualities of the area that attracted you to want to start a business here?

- The area was expanding rapidly, the location in proximity to the beach, an always active real estate market.

3. What is the best part about owning a business in Ocean County?

- No commuting to NYC or Philadelphia - the area has become a "melting pot" of people from other areas.

4. What consumer friendly tips can you give to people looking to hire someone in your industry?

- Be sure that the home inspector is properly licensed. Be sure the inspector is insured. Ask him about his experience and for a sample of his inspection reports.

5. What are some pitfalls or "red flags" to avoid when hiring someone in your business sector?

- Poorly trained individuals have become home inspectors due to a recent reduction in the training and education requirements.. Look for the experience.
