Set the Stage to Sell

Set the stage to sell

Proper staging often turns a lack-luster property into a hot item that commands a higher selling price. Before you put a house on the market, counsel your sellers to make their homes look as much like a model, move-in-ready home as possible.

  • Create a first impression that says WOW. Paint the door and trim, plant flowers, trim bushes and trees, and replace house numbers, mailbox, and doormat. These steps indicate a well-maintained home to buyers.
  • Clean. It's got to shine like new. Suggest a professional cleaning crew for an initial deep clean and keep them coming weekly until the home sells.
  • De-clutter and de-personalize. Remove all clutter, personal mementoes and 50% of the clothes in closets. Show your thoughtfulness by providing boxes for your clients' convenience. They'll need to box their possessions for the move anyway, so here's their opportunity to get a head start.
  • Paint. Apply a fresh coat in a neutral tone to as many rooms as possible.

Also, consider offering staging services as part of your overall package to set yourself apart from the pack. Professional accreditation is available.
