American Cancer Society Bike-a-thon ~ 70 Miles here I come!

The 35th Annual ACS Bike-a-thon will be rolling through the Philly area on July 15th, 2007. The event starts on the Philadelphia side of the Ben Franklin Bridge and ends in Buena, NJ. It's about a 70 mile ride from the bridge! They are expecting over 5,000 cyclists in what is the largest single day biking event in the Philly area. Last year the event raised about $1.7M and they are aiming for $2.0M this year!

Last year my wife rode for the first time...this year, I'll be joining her. I signed up on Friday, and my first thought afterwards was that I need to go buy a new bike! I have an old mountain bike that I've had since college which I don't think will survive the ride! So I have to go out soon, find a new bike and get my endurance up! I've got about 3 weeks - let's keep our fingers crossed that I'll still have feeling in my legs when it's all said and done!

If you live in the area - I highly encourage you to get involved! You can still register to ride, serve as a volunteer or if you wish to donate - you can do so here.

Good luck with the ride and I hope you do well.

You're brave to do 70 miles with a new bike and only 3 weeks of training!  Good luck with the ride.  It is for a great cause.

Thanks Craig - I'm gonna need it!

Jim & Maria - I don't know if it's brave or just craziness...but it'll be fun if nothing else!

Ravi.....  I'll take the easy route and donate.  ;o)   Hey, how about we play golf the day after your marathon.  ;o)   I win?  lol  Seriously though, good luck and yes, a great cause.

Jeff...Come on now.  The route has a starting point at Cherry Hill East - I expect to see you at the starting line with a bike!

I gave my bike to Pee Herman.  ;o)  Seriously, I don't even have a bike. I haven't had one since 9th grade?  After that came the car.  ;o)   But as I said, I will donate.
