As the decade draws to an end I find myself doing quick review of the times and events for the past decade for both my personal, business life and the world around me in general. I've come up with the following points and observations;
1. I got married and had two wonderful children.
2. I started in the real estate business after transitioning out of working as a personal trainer. Two worlds diametrically opposite from each other.
3. We went from one financial bubble to a real estate collapse and apparently our leaders didn't learn from the former that the latter was so ostensibly preventable as to be absurd.
4. The rise of the internet, mobile computing, cell phone technology and its impact on real estate has been astounding in both how we communicate with our client and how we must adapt as realtors to remain viable.
5. Social networking is a powerful tool to increase our business exposure but also helps us reconnect with past acquaintances and family.
6. We are waging the longest most expensive wars in history while our own country is in dire need of security.
7. "Reality" television program has taken over as the most watched programming while offering little in the form of substance.
8. 24 "media" stations are giving us one diversion after another from the real problems in our world. Think Tiger Woods.
9. We are in a housing and joblessness crisis that has fundamentally changed the perspective and dynamics of how we live our lives.
10. I'm still successfully active as a Realtor and wouldn't change what I do despite the obstacles.
