Two of the many recurring themes for us this year has been which camera, and how do we get quality props at lower prices - anybody any tips?
With this week's ice storm... while taking an unprecedented bit of exercise... a walk... they assure me recovery won't be more than a few days... I found some fun new bits of art!

Unlike many of you talented folks, I have yet to follow Ted Baker's advice and learn Photoshop Elements. Here are some more raw photos.....

As you can see, I am no photographer. This is with the Kodak v705. It's image stabilization could be better, and I could have hauled a tripod around for better stability.
I do think that with a few effects (from www.picnik.com, for example) and a simple glass on glass with black frame (when they next go on sale at Michaels) that these might become some nice looking, but not-too-arresting art pieces for a modernish look somewhere.
Every cloud has a silver lining... even exercise? Surely not...bah humbug!

Thanks for the collection of gorgeous photos. I love the winter nature scenes. Thank you for sharing them.
Beatiful...love the silver lining! (Btw - 96 days til spring!) ;)
Juliet! How beautiful! I've never seen anything like an ice storm in person, and I know it can not be fun, with the cold and power outages, but like you've said, what beauty!
Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures...wow
you say youre not a photographer , these are good I love the digital era !! ;)
Juliet- Beautiful, but destructive. Great photos, thank you for sharing. It was 77 here today.Burrrrrr
Juliet - Gorgeous! I'd have that first raw photo framed and hanging in my house - then again, I like raw photos.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm looking forward to the storm coming this way purely for the photo ops and have been saying so for days. Of course I may not be so excited if we lose power!

It's cold and wet, no question, but like every other cloud there is a silver lining! You Florida people are soooo lucky. The comfort you people can take for granted!!
Beautiful pictures! Drive safely!
These photos are beautiful, Juliet. I think we appreciate them more here where our seasons are so mild-I love Ansel Adams!
Kathy
Wow! Beautiful shots. I bet they would also be incredible in B&W or sepia.
Hey Jo, NEAT idea. let's see.
Ok, I'm getting carried away, but what if a room has pink allover the place - it was popular a few years back for a nano-second --
Juliet- this was beautiful! Absolutely breathtaking! I love them all except the sepia!
Wow, you live in a beautiful community. It is so rare to see homes and properties like you have. I really was born in the wrong country!
You crack me up...I just pictured you walking around in this ice storm and then you mentioned you should have carried a tripod for additional stability (for the camera or you?). Anyway what gorgeous photos and I think they would be lovely framed and hung. Do you like using the new camera?

I am ridiculously lucky, and need to remember that more often. Thank you, Dane and Phyllis.
Juliet - those photos are really good! I am all for using local 'art' in dressing up a wall. I think it adds a bit of verification to the home. Especially if you have out of towners looking at homes that they can't envision in other seasons. Nice job!
this is the only thing about an ice storm...
BEAUTIFUL PICTURES... they are amazing...
Juliet,
These are beautiful photos! So serene and majestic. I'm sure that this art will be a great addition to your art inventory. I agree with Carol, there's nothing better than using your local resources. Thank you for sharing.
Just beautiful! I would be happy to have some of them in my own home!

Thanks everyone. Merry Christmas!!

Hi Juliet- I LOVED the iced droplets on the pine needles. Having lived in tropical zones ( FL, CA), I must say that I am not familiar with ice storms. Is that the same as freezing rain? It sure looks awfully bone-chilling cold in those photos.....and that was well captured! The serenity of the winter and ice were nicely shown through your lens! Lovely photo art! Regards-Kathleen G
Hello Juliet,
Your photos are fantastic! Love them, I would have them framed. I'm no photographer either so maybe my opinion doesn't count. :(
I am watching you, Juliet. Photoshop Elements is ready when you are.
Very pretty pictures, by the way. A big part of getting great pictures is to recognize beauty and reach for your camera. Good job !
